What About Bob?

What People Say...

The need to "intervene" (discipline) with students that are not working and are interfering with the learning of others continues to be a problem for most teachers.  While "there are no quick fixes", this module focuses on classroom strategies to deal with disruptions and discipline problems in a way that teaches responsibility.

Their are MANY reasons that attempts to discipline students fail.  The primary reason is that the adult does the majority of the talking and evaluating of the student's behavior.  Therefore, the student never has to evaluate his own behavior.  Other major factors that impact effectiveness are the timing of the intervention, the tone of the intervention and the specific techniques the teacher uses.

Knowledge of the Reality Therapy Questioning process will provide the base from which to make decisions on "how" and "when" to intervene.  Bob used these techniques with emotionally-disturbed high school students for many years, and and has taught thousands of educators how to intervene more calmly and effectively in order get more consistent results.
