Phoenix  Basic Training   Los Angeles Advanced Training      Lincoln, NE Basic Training     

"Intensive" refers to the amount of information that is presented during the three-day (21 hours) training.  Participants will experience a wide-variety of instructional processes to ensure that everyone's learning style will be addressed.  PowerPoint presentations, activities, lecture, discussion, practice, cooperative learning groups, skill-practice and humor will be used to provide an enjoyable learning experience for everyone.  The emphasis is always on moving the content from THEORY to PRACTICE!

 

Topics include:

  • Choice Theory - "How" and "Why" people behave.

  • The effective use of the Reality Therapy process.

  • The four questions that will have significant impact on your life and those you work with.

  • How to use SMART Goals and Plans.

  • 7 Deadly (Relationship) Habits /  7 (Relationship) Strengthening Habits

  • The need for system change and system thinking.

  • Leadership and Quality principles, guidelines and techniques.

  • The importance of focusing on the Three E's.

    • Environment

    • Expectations

    • Evaluation

You will also have the opportunity to practice what you learn!

 

 

Basic Week Objectives

 

 

Choice Theory:  The psychological framework of "quality".

The participant will:

     know and explain the four Basic Psychological Needs.

     understand and explain the concept of "Quality World".

     understand and explain how "perceptions shape reality".

     identify and explain the four components of "Total Behavior".

     identify and discuss the Seven Deadly and Seven Helping Relationship Habits.

     explain the relationship between needs, wants, perceptions and behavior.

 

Reality Therapy:  The Questioning Process

The participant will:

     learn and practice 4 simple questions that promote personal responsibility.

     learn how to use SMART Goals and Plans.

     understand and implement the "commitment phase" in conferences.

     practice the "questioning process".

 

Pathways to Quality

The participant will:

     know the relationship between internal motivation and quality.

     understand the Three E's and how they relate to "Quality".

     understand the concepts of "Lead" and "Boss" Management.

     know how to use the Assessing and Planning Change Diagram.

 

**There are no educational requirements for attendance at a Basic Intensive Week. In order to receive an Institute Certificate of Completion at the end of the week, the participant must attend the full training week. 

 

                    

 


 

In order to complete the Certification process of the William Glasser Institute, participants must complete the following:

Advanced Intensive Week

Advanced Practicum
