Managing the School and Classroom the Deming Way by Crawford, Bodine & Hoglund In this book, the authors propose fundamental and sweeping changes that will provide need‑fulfilling educational experiences for all learners regardless of race, gender, or socioeconomic status.
The School for Quality Learning is based on the psychological teachings of William Glasser and the management principles of W. Edwards Deming. It challenges administrators to become lead‑managers of their schools and teachers to become lead-managers of their classrooms. And it challenges each student to exhibit quality behavior and learning.
The transformation, both in structure and management style, involves profound changes in decision making, assessment and evaluation, staff selection and development, curriculum and delivery systems, discipline and responsibility education, and family involvement.
The appendices contain study questions, activities, and assessment scales that provide school staff with the agenda and process for making the transition to a school for quality learning.
